Siegel takes audiences of all ages on a musical tour of the Great White Way, offering an entertaining verbal account of Broadway’s history. Each evening celebrates the songs from Broadway shows of a selected year, sung by a cast of talented cabaret and Broadway performers. This marvelous program not only highlights favorite show-stopping numbers, it also features lesser-known gems.

Devendra Banhart emerged as one of the central figures in the “freak folk” movement of the 2000s — a loosely connected group of singer-songwriters who paired acoustic songs with vivid, surrealistic lyrics and idiosyncratic arrangements. Banhart’s music is often charmingly childlike, filled with pianos, cellos, and handclaps, plus big doses of neo-hippie whimsy. The Cali-based singer can also be a serious craftsman,. As the 2000s wore on he deployed his gorgeous vibrato and melodic skills with more and more focus.

To commemorate the 60th anniversary of Ethel and Julius Rosenbergs’ executions, the Rosenberg Fund for Children presents a benefit event entitled, Carry it Forward: Celebrate the Children of Resistance

This stage program, which intersperses dramatic readings and dramatized vignettes with music and poetry, honors the legacy of ­resistance passed on from the Rosenbergs and others, and celebrates the courage of families who continue to resist today. It embraces the history of progressive activism both through a look back at past generations, and in the context of today’s struggles.  It honors the community of people who are working for social justice, and shows activists, and their children, that they are not alone.

Activist legend Angela Davis will be the program's narrator and Eve Ensler (performer, author and playwright of The Vagina Monologues and Emotional Creature) will portray Ethel Rosenberg.  With music from Rebel Diaz — a progressive, Latino hip hop group —  and the husband and wife folk duo, Mike + Ruthy; and poetry from Martín Espada. Shola Lynch (director of Free Angela & All Political Prisoners) and Christina Gonzalez will portray the daughters of Russell Maroon Shoatz and Tito Kayak.  Additional cast members to be announced soon

The highly anticipated tour is the first for Steve Martin and Edie Brickell, who will perform songs from their album Love Has Come for You. The remarkable new collaboration is set for release on April 23 on Rounder Records.

Love Has Come for You features 13 eloquently rootsy compositions that combine Martin’s inventive five-string banjo work with Brickell’s distinctive vocals and vivid, detail-rich lyrics.  The album was produced by legendary producer Peter Asher (James Taylor, Elvis Costello, Linda Ronstadt) and features notable players including rising-star Esperanza Spalding on bass, veteran studio guitarist Waddy Wachtel and Nickel Creek alumni Sara and Sean Watkins.  The album also features the esteemed bluegrass combo the Steep Canyon Rangers with whom Martin recorded his latest Grammy^®nominated album Rare Bird Alert. 

In a genre that prizes musicianship above all else, Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers have risen to national prominence with their dynamic stage show.  The tour will showcase new material performed by Martin and Brickell, along with the unique hybrid of bluegrass and comedy that Martin and The Steep Canyon Rangers have been delighting audiences with at their sold-out, critically acclaimed shows.
